Conscious Vs Subconscious: How Does Your Mind Work?

So many people do not understand their own minds.

As a result, they keep falling prey to their minds’ tricks (which are not even real most of the time).

They fall into “moods”.

They feel trapped by inaction.

They struggle with even the simplest of decisions.

Their days and months (sometimes even years) are run by complacency.

That’s why, they fight with the idea of making any permanent change in their life.

But what if you just took some time to understand your own mind?

And then systematically took steps to reprogram it to become your supporter rather than your enemy.

Now imagine your mind is like a big, magical library.

This library has two main sections: the conscious and the subconscious.

1. Conscious Mind:

This is like the front part of the library, where you walk around, pick up books, and read them.

It’s where you think about things you’re aware of, like solving a math problem, deciding what to eat, or playing a video game.

It’s the part of your mind you use when you’re awake and paying attention.

2. Subconscious Mind:

This is like the secret, hidden part of the library, deep underground, where millions of books are stored without you even seeing them.

These books have stories about your past experiences, feelings, and lessons you’ve learned.

You don’t always know what’s in these books, but they still affect what you think and how you act.

For example, if you once got scared by a dog, your subconscious mind might have a book titled “Scary Dog Experience.”

Even if you don’t think about it, when you see a dog, your subconscious might tell you to be careful, because it remembers that scary story.

Your subconscious mind is always working, even when you’re sleeping.

It’s like a supercomputer that’s always on, sorting through all these hidden books, helping you learn things without you even trying.

It helps you do things automatically, like riding a bike or speaking your language, so you don’t have to think about every little step.

So, the subconscious mind is like a powerful, magical part of your brain’s library, holding all your memories and feelings, and helping you in ways you might not even notice!

But…

It can easily get out of your control.

As long as you are conscious and present, you are the master of your subconscious mind.

But as soon as you let go even a little, you become the puppet.

Then the worst of your fears and limiting beliefs start becoming stronger.

You feel like you cannot control your thoughts.

You attract your worst-case scenarios.

You begin to lose grip on your reality.

Things begin happening to you rather than from you.

So how do you avoid this from happening?

Here are a few keys to gaining control over your mind:

1. Talking to Yourself Intentionally:

Before you go to bed, talk to your subconscious mind.

You can say things like, “I’m really good at making friends,” or “I’m getting better at soccer every day.”

It’s like leaving notes in your subconscious library that say good things about you, which can help you feel and do better.

2. Imagination Station:

Your imagination is a powerful tool to train your subconscious mind.

Let’s say you’re nervous about an interview. Close your eyes and imagine you’re a superhero who knows all the answers and is super confident.

This superhero feeling can get stored in your subconscious and help you feel less nervous when the interview comes.

Train your imagination every single day.

3. Mindful Moments:

Sometimes, we need to clean up our mind library.

Mindfulness is like being a librarian who organizes the books.

Take a few minutes each day to sit quietly, breathe deeply, and notice what you’re feeling.

It’s like sorting through the books in your subconscious, understanding them, and putting them in the right places.

4. Only Collect Good:

Your subconscious mind is like a sponge. It soaks up everything you experience and think.

To make it work for you, try to fill it with good stuff.

It’s your library, why would you want bad books to take up space in your library?

Only allow positive books, content, and stories to your subconscious library.

5. Learning from Mistakes:

Imagine each mistake is like a mystery book in your mind library.

Instead of being scared of it, become a detective and learn from it.

Ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?

This way, your subconscious mind remembers mistakes as lessons, not as things to be afraid of.

That’s it!

When you shift your perspective, everything else changes in accordance.

🙌
